Trauma Informed Counseling
Trauma's Impact on Well-Being
If you struggle with a voice in your head that says you’re not good enough or worthy of love, there is likely a painful experience beneath those beliefs propelling your self-doubt and dissatisfaction. Unable to feel fully safe, connected, and in control, your nervous system may have been hijacked by trauma.
Unfortunately, our culture perpetuates the idea that trauma only happens in dangerous, life-threatening situations. Yet, many common human experiences–including loss, transitions, attachment wounds, and systemic injustices–can result in a traumatic response. In these cases, trauma often manifests as anxiety, flashbacks, depression, dissociation, interpersonal issues, and a low stress tolerance.
Empowering Trauma Healing
By practicing becoming mindful and aware in holistic counseling, you can adjust your body’s trauma response and free up the emotional energy that painful experiences have taken away from you. Reconnecting with yourself in a new way, you can be given the tools you need to understand and rewrite your story.
It's important to remember that healing from trauma is a journey, and it's not something you have to go through alone. A holistic approach to therapy provides a safe and supportive environment where you can explore and process your past experiences, allowing you to build resilience, regain a sense of control, and ultimately, find a path towards self-compassion and personal growth.
